I’m Colleen, a Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of clinical experience spanning emergency medicine, primary care, pediatrics, and women’s health. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Nursing with a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner designation, allowing me to provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care for patients across Ontario.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of caring for patients in a wide variety of healthcare settings. Those experiences reinforced my belief that the best healthcare combines evidence-based medical care with a thoughtful understanding of the many factors that influence a person’s health.
Over the years, I began to notice a common theme among many of the women I cared for. They were navigating persistent symptoms such as fatigue, hormone changes, digestive concerns, burnout, weight challenges, or simply a sense that they weren’t feeling like themselves. While these concerns are often multifactorial, they deserve thoughtful, comprehensive care that considers the whole person, not just individual symptoms.
That realization inspired me to create Axis and Roots Health.
My goal was to build the kind of healthcare experience many women are searching for. One that takes the time to listen, asks thoughtful questions, and combines evidence-based medical care with a deeper understanding of the factors that influence long-term health.
As a Nurse Practitioner, I can diagnose medical conditions, order and interpret laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging, prescribe medications, provide hormone therapy, and refer to specialists. But just as importantly, I believe good healthcare means understanding how hormones, nutrition, sleep, stress, movement, metabolic health, and lifestyle all work together to influence how we feel.
Rather than focusing only on symptom management, I work collaboratively with each patient to understand their unique story and develop a practical, personalized plan that fits their goals, values, and everyday life.
Outside of clinical practice, I’m a busy mother of four and a lifelong athlete who understands firsthand how challenging it can be to prioritize your own health while balancing work, family, and everything else life demands. That perspective reminds me every day that healthcare needs to be realistic, sustainable, and designed for real people. not perfection.
Whether you’re navigating perimenopause, menopause, fatigue, digestive concerns, ADHD, complex chronic symptoms, or simply aren’t sure where to start, my hope is that you’ll leave every appointment feeling heard, informed, and confident about your next steps.
I’m honoured to be part of your health journey, and I look forward to working with you.
